National Voter Registration Day

by Leslie McGraw
On July 23, 2022 I had a dream about Uncle Elbert leaned up against a corner post of a general store talking about planning a NAACP meeting. There had already been a lot of unrest because of the group’s efforts to register to vote in the past year. He was giving directions of what to next in case he was retaliated against. He said to “educate voters, learn about the vote and your rights so that no one can take it away from you.”

I tried to see who he was talking to, but I couldn’t. Then I looked down and I saw my hands and felt the country dirt under my feet. I woke up in a sweat, trembling and reaching for my notebook. Uncle Elbert was talking to me! Over the past year, I have been planting seeds and watering the programming for The Elbert Williams Voting Corner.

The growth and increase is happening, in supernatural ways.

Today, I am pleased to play a small part in the vision set forth by Trische’ Duckworth and Survivors Speak for the first Pull Up, Turn Up Voter Awareness and Registration Party.
